Let's See Our Campaign

Poster Background

The picture above is a flyer that will be used as an invitation to attend a campaign on the day specified. While providing an overview of what will be delivered in the core campaign to be held by the group work. The concept that we have from the Globalization and Traditional Cultural Preservation is the repacking of the campaign through a short theatrical play. Theatre campaign includes preservation of cultural (traditional food), which is now his position has been displaced by the diversity of western food such as; Hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs etc. Among adolescents as the influence of globalization. Our theater will be performed in the form of a talk show featuring a case that can be studied as a phenomenon of globalization is happening in modern life.

We took the title of a talk show that is PG show as the acronym of Planet Global show. Our target audiences are teenagers around 13-19 years. Therefore, in making this flyer we use some bright colors to attract the attention of teenagers’ viewers and we use non-formal language as the language which common used in adolescent conversations. In this poster, there are some photos that we mix and match between authentic Indonesian cuisine and western cuisine. The purposes of the photos as invitations to look at the impact of globalization from other views. So far, most forms of traditional culture that has been threatened by globalization that is often discussed about the art of dance, songs, pictures, etc. But in this campaign, we deliberately raised the topic of traditional foods because we think of food as one of the cultural products that are very close to the daily lives of adolescents.

Globalization is not a negative impact or threat. Globalisation is challenging us.Let 's think globally! Let's open our mind to Globalization! These sentences are our jargon to invite the audience to face and addressing the globalization era. The teenagers are expected to be assertive (firm) against globalization, especially against the arrival of various foreign foods. With capital knowledge, it is expected that they will be able to distinguish and selectively absorb part of the globalization that have a positive effect. For example, the globalization actually opened our opportunities to seek information broadly why traditional Indonesian food assumed as lame food by teenagers, and we can find the solutions, how to make traditional food is interesting, etc. Without replacing the existence of traditional food with western food.

In the flyer, there are two pictures emoticons with different expressions. This emoticon symbolizes the perception of Indonesian cuisine that occurs among adolescents. The first emoticon symbolizes an expression of sullen teenagers who dislike with Indonesian cuisine, which is also symbolized by the dialogue in the balloons and pictures Semur Jengkol as representative of Indonesian cuisine which is considered as old-fashioned and inappropriate for teenagers. On the other hand, there was an emoticon with a smile expression that represents the interests of young people in enjoying the modern food which is cool like food from western countries such as hamburgers which is shown in the picture.

The following photos below are solid food-matching between Indonesian food and western food. The Photos symbolize the solution on how to address the role of globalization as well as teens participate in preserving the traditional food that the details will be submitted furthermore information on the talk shows. The solution we mean is that in an effort to preserve traditional foods in the era of globalization, the teens should be open minded to globalization that occurred as a natural process. This can be realized with a combination of Indonesian cuisine and western cuisine (acculturation) as a form of receiving / absorbing selectively and open the entry of foreign cultural elements into our native culture. With so to get something that is hanging out and no more old school, teens are expected to make innovation and creating a traditional Indonesian cuisine, so the more varied and can be exhibited in a global society. (Although not all of the teenagers interest for cooking).

hi kiss,
wow that's a great poster. I agree with you, nowadays teenagers prefer to eat western food because in their opinion western food is COOL. Hopefully by your campaign teenagers can preserve our traditional food. Btw, nowadays there are so many fast food restaurant, and market that sell fast food beside their school. What do you think about that?

@ ulung: ya,,, i think that's the strategy of the store to attract the students to buy. i really agree if the school allow d'parents to bring food from their home to their kids just like i observed in SD kembang, they already did it. i think it's a good program :)

@iik: thanks,iik.
same as yours, we should care also for discrimination issues for women especially. however, i wanna ask you about what is the best solution to care about discrimination issue around us?

kiswanto mengatakan...

it depends on them, just like when we watch super size me movie. People are gaining the bad effect on their healthy if they keep on their lifestyle who tend to eat modern food only like junkfood.
by combining modern food and traditional food, i think it's the best way to keep the existence of our traditional food in d'world. as long as we keep the hiegine and the eyecatchy look of the food, people will get tempted to choose traditional food again :)

Hmm... i'm in love with our group work.
Especially the way introducing aculturation concepts through the food. And the concept that culture is not only about the traditional art. Food, the thing we need everyday is also product of culture..

let's think globally!
hheheu
interesting ya about the issue you brought
globalization doesn't mean that we have to like anything sounds "international" but we have to preserve our tradition and cultural products and also to introduce or promote it to be known internationally.
hhehe
would u agree with me???

Kiss, do you know what? The poster is so you, hahaha. Sometimes, you make something crowded. That is what happen in your poster. In my opinion, poster is something that has something to focus on. However, if you make the poster to crowded then people will get confused. I know that you want to make the poster clear for the reader, but i think it is better for you to make it simple. Everybody has different style, maybe simple is what i like. Many people like your poster too.

Umi Faridha mengatakan...

Kiss, I agree with Lina. I have a comment for you. The slogan is not consistent. Maybe, you've better use one but reach the content than you've two. So, your focus is clear. I think the words "Let's think globally" with "Let's open our mind to globalization" have the same meaning, haven't it ?
So, what are your purposes in creating those words?

kiswanto mengatakan...

thanks lina,, ya we have different style,, actually some pictures that i inserted in the poster are just as decoration to make it crowd and let no useless spaces in this poster, the focus is on the text and food pictures :) heheheh i like simple, but actually i made it crowd because my targegt is ABABILERS SMA who tend to looked something full colour whom they assumed as eyecatchy things...

for umi, our jargon are let's think globally and let's open our mind to globalization. i realized that it was too long, but the second sentence was used used to describe the first sentence, they help each other. because in dictionary there's no globally word, if i just pur the first sentence, i didn't think that people will understands it directly,,
this was what i think so far. :)

yeahh, i was so excited with ur campaign yesterday.. we had a same time to do our campaign..
ur topic reminds me that nowadays, our youth generation (or maybe i include) feel so shame to introduce what we have now.. we often choose to modern and we leave the traditional behind.. ehmm,, even i like to listen the west music with their characteristic than listen to batak song.. grr.. hard choice because i can't understand the meaning in batak song. the lyric is so hard for me to follow than west song and i'm so shame with it..
what's ur opinion, kiss about this??

kiswanto mengatakan...

i think its related back to our preference and our taste,, sometime we feel so gengsi to introduce our culture now,,it's ok if we feel shame at the beginning, later on you will be accustomed to it,,
make it as our duty mel as the youths, why don't we assumed that what we have now is too goudy "norak" as our uniqueness,, i love batak song,, because it's very unique with its high tone,, i don't think that western people can sing batak song as perfect as bataknese did it, if u realize indonesian people can sing western song as best as they did, just like u when u are singing :P
